come and C the damage

despite the fact the flood has been over for a little while sadly life hasn't quite settled to that nice stability i'd been enjoying for a few months. the flood left quite a mess through out dunedin including the botanic garden.

there's some good news and some bad news when i got back home after the flood ended on my birthday (of all times for it to end!).

the bad news was that the dell where i live had been pretty thoroughly soaked and boggified.

the good news was that i don't owe a lot of stuff, and what little i did have stayed nice and dry with me at salmond during the flood.

another bit of bad news i'd totally forgotten about, was one of my directives from the department of conservation:

C. Must report to the Department of Conservation
any change in habitat, territory, or ecosystem
within 24 hours of change

though i hadn't given my conservation directives a second thought there was someone else who had...

my attaché with DOC agent hamilton was very eager to checkup on me. especially in light of the flood...

last time she'd visited i didn't quite manage to get on her good side. not that i got on her bad side either... she is just intimidating to be honest, and i had no idea how to make sure she didn't hate me.

i mean after all i can't have the person whose in charge of my living in this country not like me. that'd make life unfun in a hurry... or so i'd think... with my small brain...

agent hamilton showed up in the middle of the afternoon. not a time i would have expected a visit from DOC... which was kind of the idea i think.

during her last visit agent hamilton had insisted on NOT entering the dell due to fears of disturbing my habitat. even though she hadn't seen it she knew exactly where to look for it.

i became aware of something not quite normal when i caught the scent of someone coming down the path (we t-rexs have pretty dare good senses of smell). it's unusual for people to wander into the dell due to the urban legend of the dell being a maze of doom...

man was i surprised when that person wandering in was agent hamilton!

"ah good," said agent hamilton as she walked up to me. "i'm glad you are home mr. tyrannosaur."

"you can call me traumador," i prompted. nobody ever calls me by my last name.

"i wish to inspect the damage caused by the flood," she ignored me.

"well other then a bit of erosion and swampyness everything is pretty much alright," i reported.

"so there have been changes to your territory as a result of the flood," agent hamilton made a note in her book.

"just a few little ones," i wanted to impress her by pointing them out. "like this new little drain creek here, and the bog mud here."

cutting me off though. "mr. tyrannosaur you are aware that you are currently in violation of article C of your conservation directives?" she was clearly unhappy.

"uh no," my heart sank. i thought i'd been doing really good in everything up till now. suddenly i wasn't...

"i'm going to consider this a warning to you mr. tyrannosaur," her voice was icy. "but in the future i highly suggest you reference your directives at least once a week to ensure that you are in compliance with them."

"okay," i sadly replied. so much for the stability of the before. also so much for getting on agent hamilton's good side. this was so getting on her bad side...

"fortunately this incident was a minor violation of article C. in the future event of a similar natural disaster please contact us to alert us of its effecting you. we can not ensure your survival unless we are given adequate information. now let us consider that topic taken care of," she made another note in her book. "i wish to see your habitat. if you could guide me i'd greatly appreciate it."

well okay i thought. maybe this was a chance to redeem myself!

so off we went on a grand tour of my humble jungle like home. the whole while agent hamilton happily wrote down notes in her book... wonder what it says about me?

after the grand 10 minute tour and returning to where we'd started agent hamilton had a few questions.

"so that constitutes your whole range?" she asked.

"what?" i was confused. "i don't have a range. i'm a close proximity predator. constitution? i'm really not following you agent hamilton?"

she paused for a moment. "sorry mr. tyrannosaur. i forgot about your unique cerebral characteristics," she'd lost me again... "was everything you showed me your current territory?"

"oh," i exclaimed. why didn't she just ask that? still not sure what firing ranges and governments have to do with my home? "yeah that's pretty much it."

"i see," she wrote a longish bit to that one. "are you aware of the specific nature of this particular section of the garden?"

"uh maybe?" i replied unsure. i knew lots of things about it, but not "specific" things.

"as the agent in charge of your conservation mr. tyrannosaur i feel it is my duty to alert you to the hazardous nature of this dell system," agent hamilton said in a serious voice, which coming from her was really serious!

"the ghosts?!?" i interrupted. man that night had scared me.

agent hamilton raised her eyebrow. "ghosts?"

i told her the details of my run in with the eerie light and voices. she made several notes in her book.

"i can't verify or comment on this disruption to your lifestyle. i'll have someone from the department look into it," i had clearly thrown her off track. "however back to the subject i was discussing before this... new detail. are you aware of this area being part of "the maze"?"

"hold up, i thought the maze was just a myth?" i tried not to show the fear in my voice. now i'm not saying i didn't believe ben when he told me that story about the dell being some sort of crazy maze that people get lost in. i was just kinda hoping he was pulling my leg or telling a tall tale...

agent hamilton suddenly went slightly stiff in her composure. "officially mr. tyrannosaur there is no evidence to confirm or deny the existence of such a maze," she suddenly drew in closer and lowered her sun glasses. "unofficially you are living in the gateway to a very dangerous patch of forest mr. tyrannosaur."

i suddenly became somewhat alarmed.

"at the same time," agent hamilton seemed to have had a thought. "now that i think about it, i am quite pleased at this choice of habitat."

what?!? how could living on the edge of a maze of doom be a good thing???

"you'll be safe from poachers and hunters in this section," she went on. "that and predators."

i was going to say something, but agent hamilton looked at me squarely. "i assure you both on and off the record this spot is probably the safest for you in dunedin. however ensure you don't wander past your current range... sorry i mean territory."

"if you say so," i hesitantly agreed.

"i do," she jotted down some notes. "i'm concluding this check up. contact me or the department if you experience any problems, and mr. tyrannosaur make sure you follow your directives from now on!"

with that agent hamilton was gone as suddenly as she had appeared...

man this changed my whole day and out look on things.

not only had i made a mess of things with DOC, but the maze i was living beside was known and feared by more then just ben... even the department of conservation was worried about it... if their scared of it then what hope do i have of not being...

the stablity destabilizes

as you probably know things had been fairly stable in my life, people of the web wide world. today something occurred that might signal an end to that trend.

as you know people of the innerweb i've been working as a security guard at the otago museum for a couple months now. as per the normal practise i've been diligently watching the whole place from the central lobby... due to my being able to see all the entrances to the museum galleries (just like in this nice pic).

up till recent i've been able to do my own thing at work cause my boss has been off doing... uh i don't know bossy type stuff at other museums around the world... she didn't mention what it was when she left...

well that changed today. without warning this morning ms. rhonwyn showed back up here in dunedin...

fortunately i had managed to get around to the main task she'd asked me to do last week... phew that was a close one!

now the one thing i don't have to worry about when the boss shows up unannounced is being caught NOT working! when ms. rhonwyn snuck behind me i was ever vigilantly patrolling the whole museum as usual (from one spot i'll point out... not to bad for a guy with a brain the size of a peanut!)... and come to think of it she didn't technically sneak up on me... cause hey as a guard at the museum that would make it sound like i didn't see her... which is preposterous!... i uh let her sneak up on me... yeah a test of sorts...

and as part of that test i might have let out a bit of a startled yipe of surprise when ms. rhonwyn was right beside me and said hello... it was JUST a test mind you... i'm not a coward or anything...

it was real exciting to she her again cause thus far she's been the nicest boss i've ever had.

that's not to say my bosses at other places i've worked were mean or anything. it's just in the 3 months i've worked here ms. rhonwyn has only been here in dunedin for one of them... which is kinda odd to be honest... i just haven't had to deal with her to draw a comparison is all...

"how have things been here while i was gone?" she asked, though ms. rhonwyn sounded like she was expecting a bad answer with her voice. was i in trouble or something?

"fine... i think," i replied hesitantly.

"oh good," ms. rhonwyn seemed to relax a bit. just a bit mind you...

"how was your trip?" i asked eagerly.

"it was... productive," she seemed as hesitant answering my question as i was with hers.

"what were you doing?" i was excited to hear tales of all the exotic museums she'd been to. man i love museums!

"just checking in with old friends," she said quickly. before i could try to ask her about her friends, ms. rhonwyn changed the subject. "so tell me about your shifts this last month."

that was a pretty exciting subject causing me to forget my line of questioning... for the moment anyway.

i told her all about my cool discoveries and findings in the various halls of the museum.

i could tell this made ms. rhonwyn happy with me just from the big smile she got.

"good on you traumador! that's what i like to hear. you're getting right into the thick of things here at the museum," she praised. "that way if trouble strikes you'll be able to deal with it, and know the in's and outs like the back of your hand."

something about how she talked about this "trouble" made my stomach churn a bit.

"are you expecting something bad to happen here?" i gasped in worry.

ms. rhonwyn stared at me for a moment, and then she got an uncomfortable smile... now i normally don't read human expression very well. being a tyrannosaur and all. instinctively i look for way different indicators of emotion (like exposing of massive t-rex teeth)... but i've seen dan put on "fake" smiles lots of times when i was living with him in drumheller.

"of course not," she stated with ingenue smile and all. suddenly ms. rhonwyn turned around and walked to the closest bench.

not sure what was going on i followed her. this was beginning to remind me of the weird way ben the gardener had been acting last time i talked to him about the scary maze he was talking about...

ms. rhonwyn was starting to slide down my list of favorite bosses... she was kinda scaring me... i liked my job, but if there was something she wasn't telling me about it i didn't really want it...

"what aren't you telling me ms. rhonwyn?" i asked surprisingly confrontationally... for me anyway... i'm normally a big chicken when it comes to these things. "this is the second time you've talked weird about this security job."

last time she had mentioned "interesting" stuff happening while on the job... i hadn't thought much about it then, but this was all new and exciting, and let's face it i was kinda desperate at the time!

now i had a somewhat stable life in the mix, and not to mention my nice scaly self.

her face took a slightly more serious expression, but not ominous or threatening mind you. "i'd never with hold any information from you or any of my other staff that you need to know traumador. i was talking 'figuratively'."

i have no idea what figuratively means people of the web wide world... does it have something to do with action figures? i like action figures!

"what?" was of course my reply... but ms. rhonwyn must have thought that i was being pushy or something.

"look traumador, you're misunderstanding me," she paused and clearly had something on her mind... she was just deciding whether to tell me or not. "my trip to those various museums around the world it was because they've been having some unfortunate things happen to them as of late. frankly i don't want to see any of it happen here."

what did she mean by "unfortunate things"? why wasn't she giving me straight answers.

it was like ms. rhonwyn could read my mind (as small as it is and everything!)...

"i'll show you what i mean," she tried to assure me.

we walked to the nearby maori gallery.

"you see this waka," she referred to the beautiful war canoe in the entrance... a waka need to remember that fun factoid... "an absolute treasure, and a key part of new zealand's heritage."

it sure was a nice exhibit piece...

she smiled. "i'm just a bit of a worry wart sometimes is all. i worry that somebody or something outside this building, or inside come to think of it, might try and do something that would remove this or another piece of new zealand forever. your job traumador is to make sure that doesn't happen."

well that kinda explained it all... i guess?

"as it is my job to make sure you do your job that's why i might make things sound a little dire," she concluded.

i couldn't quite relax though. i've worked at museums before. the royal tyrrell and devil's coulee to name some... none of my bosses at those places were worried about "somebody or something" "removing" any of our specimens...

come to think of it my bosses certainly never travelled around the world checking out other museums for trouble... what sort of troubles?

before i could ask any of these questions ms. rhonwyn stated. "you should get back to work traumador."

well there was no point in arguing it. i headed back to the lobby to resume my watch... what did watch mean though? was i just watching over or was i watching OUT for something?

so much for that stretch of nice calm stability people of the innerweb...

25.7.07

diverse museum

well apart from the unsettling and kinda scary event of the other night things have stuck to the nice and stable end of the spectrum...

work carries on perfectly predictable in it's uneventfulness...

that is minus the one outstanding assignment i've left uncompleted...

that assignment of course being how ms. rhonwyn told me i had to explore all the museum galleries so i could improve my knowledge of the museum, and thus guard it better...

i've already checked out both the prehistoric and modern natural history galleries of the 3rd floor, but the galleries of the 2nd still remained a mystery... till today!

taking two large chunks of time out of my patrol of the lobby today i set out intent to get the WHOLE museum under my belt...
my first break i decided i'd take on the pacific cultures gallery...
considering how small the museum is (globally speaking mind you... for a museum it's a fair sized one) they sure crammed a lot of the pacific in here!
this display area is dedicated to the various cultures that live on islands throughout the worlds biggest ocean... who knew there were so many? well not me anyways in answer to that question...

the first thing one is greeted by is a wall of boats! so many different kinds was really cool!

further into the gallery there is a dozen or so display cases, and in each on there is a single culture... meaning that there is around a dozen cultures represented in here!!!

the items and artifacts on display in these cases varies from masks, sculptures, jewelery, clothes, tools, to weapons, and even whole boats! your typical human museum fair really...

not my area of "expertise" but then again with at brain as small as mine what would be such an area LOL

entering the main chamber of this multi roomed gallery was a movie. i couldn't afford the time needed to stick around a watch the film (which probably could make me a lot more proficient in this gallery) tonight as i had a WHOLE floor to cover while also guarding so i had to press on my tour of the pacific islands...

wow there was a big stickish thing at the very end of the gallery that looked kinda important based on the display mount... have to be sure and come back later to learn more about this thing, but again had so little time just know it's here for future reference...

now when people who live on islands are typically shown on TV and in books their depicted as pretty friendly and nice people, but man based on a few of the displays of their weapons they look as scary and well equipped for trouble as a team of navy seals (man i don't want to picture military associated seals... i lived with a few when i first moved here, and ordinary seals are no fun!)

wow they have some cool but creepy statues too... this fish was cool in a spooky kinda way...
overall i think my favorite thing in the whole gallery though had to be the cool and crazy masks these guys made and used!

**************************

now with that gallery explored i only had one more permanent exhibit to go... but it would have to wait until later in my shift. fortunately uncomplicated this plan nothing of interest or bother occurred. so off on another round of exploring i went...

this time a truly new zealand gallery... the one on the maori... new zealands indigenous people
it's a pretty big gallery too (though it only has to fit in stuff from new zealand... which means they pack a LOT more maori stuff compared to pacific island stuff)

they have some really pretty artifacts i have to say... according to one of the signs the various artifacts in this case are made of either bone (whale?!? oh no!) or stuff called green stone (i wonder if it's the same stuff that kills superman???)... again real pretty... and kinda shiny...

at first i thought these were big carvings to help remind maori children about punctuation in the form of an explanation mark, but reading the display i discovered these were actually clubs! (but they shouldn't be used on me as i just used the punctuation mark of their like in that sentence!)
these green stone tools are real important to the maori i've deduced as they appear in almost every display case... must also be worth something too, as i can't help but notice considerable amounts of security equipment in this gallery have. important to note as the security guard!

one of my favorite displays was on how they DIG up evidence of ancient maori stuff... yeah you read that right people of the innerweb... they dig maori remains up just like fossils!

well okay not "just" like, but similar enough that i really got what this display was about... fine tune digging, mapping, and collecting... takes me back to the glory days at the tyrrell when i got to dig...

man the maori have really cool carvings! really tall and intricate... i just wish i knew what they meant or represented... i'll have to come back later and spend some time figuring that out too...

come to think of it these remind of some of the cool carvings made by canadian first nations people i saw in north vancouver during my BC quest

this is also the site of a cool maori building (which i learnt is actually just a model of a MUCH bigger version of this building). all those sparkles you see in the photo are the reflection off shells that are embedded in the carvings of the building... making the eyes seem alive...

that was a cool as gallery... i just wish i had more to time to check it out (which i will make later) cause i didn't learn a lot about the specifics about the maori...

it didn't help that this gallery had a lot of real maori words for stuff in here... i have problems with human language at the best of times that alone when it is one i don't speak...

oh well ms. rhownyn will be happy that i finished my tour of the museum here today...

i even picked up a traditional maori ritual for greeting people. you simple get in close and touch noses... which as you can see in this last photo i'm doing to one of the maori sculptures to welcome myself into this section of the building. cause i intend on coming back here again soon...

1.6.07

naturally a museum

well my new... strangely... normal life goes on...

considering ALL the trials and tribulations i've gone through since my being fired at the tyrrell up till my meeting the governments immigration criteria it's hard to get used to this stable existence i'm enjoying at moment...

i'm almost getting paranoid to be honest that something dramatic will happen, but fortunately there's enough going on to keep my mind off things...

the main distraction is of course work... and as security guard of the otago museum i've always got securing to do.

having been on the job nearly three whole months i've totally got my technique and procedure for guarding down to a science. standing in the very open lobby (as you can see here in the pic above) i have an outstanding view of all the entrances to the museum itself and its galleries too.

of course last month you'll recall that my boss ms. rhonwyn told me i had to shake up this guarding strategy by taking sometime each shift to explore the insides and displays of the museum.

however to be a little frank people of the innerweb i haven't been as diligent in this task as i should be...

you see ms. rhonwyn has been out of the country for the last month touring other museums for... well come to think of it she never told me why... uh some reason or another...

however while on duty here tonight i got a call from her that made me realize that i'd forgotten this explore the otago museum assignment...

from her current stop over at the museum of tasmania, in australia, while looking at the impressive specimen of muttaburrasaurus ms. rhonwyn was reminded of me, and so decided to check up on me...

she was a little disappointed to find out i hadn't been wandering the museum... in my defense i just wanted to make sure i was doing a REALLY good job of guarding while she was gone so that i wouldn't let anyone down.

however having made ms. rhonwyn unhappy with me i headed right off to finish off the natural history gallery...

its got some cool stuff i must say

giants crabs...

giant albatrosses...

all kinds of other cool birds and animals

uh "surprisingly" for a natural history gallery even MORE animals and plants...

then the biggest shock of all... a display on modern extinctions at the end...
now i ranted about typical museum extinction exhibits when i explored the first half of this hall a month ago... but that was about prehistoric extinctions, and to be specific their almost always about us dinosaurs...

this was a display about the plights of current species in new zealand, and how many of the amazing local animals are endangered. most of it due to humans bringing critters they weren't supposed to over here and letting them run loose...

having read the signs on here about these invading species i now can understand why bio-security and the department of conservation were SO difficult on my immigrating here to new zealand... in theory i could do a lot of damage here... just like these other visiting animals...

that's a scary thought. i'm going to have to go and reexamine my lifestyle and REALLY make sure it follows my conservation directives

okay well that's one gallery of 6 down... only 5 more to go before ms. rhonwyn returns in a... WEEK!!!... oh man... got go people of the innerweb... keep you posted though!

signs of success

well things have been fairly uneventful in my life people of the innerweb as of late. a bit of a shock to hear i'm sure, cause it has been a shock to me!

this week a fairly noteworthy event has occurred to disrupt my newly emerging normality though...

i stand here at the entrance to the dell (my new home here in the botanic garden) and admire the new OFFICIAL sign denoting my occupancy of the area.

it's official issue from the department of conservation, and is part of my new protection program. man that just sounds so cool, having my own conservation program... and it is even cooler then it sounds!

oh wait how rude of me people of the innerweb... i haven't told you that story yet have i!

well it all started yesterday morning...

a visitor arrived bright and early in the morning at the park... not an unusual occurrence i guess, come to think of it. we do get a LOT of visitors here a day!... but this would be no ordinary visitor...

she probably would have gone unnoticed like the countless hundreds others who have passed through the gardens since i moved in, but there was something about her that was different...

a presence i guess would be the best way to describe it... the very way she walked about the upper gardens with a sense of purpose denoted something unusual about her being here...

like the very capable and diligent headmaster of the gardens that he is, ben the gardener picked up on her within only a few minutes. being a much braver creature then me (it must be noted people of the innerweb despite my being a potentially fierce t-rex i'm something of a "chicken"... well in more then one way i guess. we t-rexs are related to chickens...) ben went up to personally investigate our new comer...

he was surprised to learn that she already knew who he was. even more surprising was her request for him to assist her in finding me...

now of course at the time i was unaware of any of this going on below me in the main part of the garden. all i know is that i got a phone call on my still newish "cell" phone from ben asking me to come meet as he put it a "special visitor".

so like a good tenant i started on my way to meet up with my landlord, and who ever this mysterious visitor ben had spoken of... having no clue as to just how important a meeting this would end up being...

ben in the meantime being the great guy he is tried to be a friendly host/facilitator by making small talk. our guest though would have none of it...

leaving poor ben in something of a lurch. he's not the sort to have people be unsociable to him (which is funny i guess... you'd think someone who spends a lot of time around plants would be used to not being talked to...)

instead the stranger seemed to be observing and scrutinizing everything as she walked. sizing up the whole garden for some unknown reason...

it was about this time that i entered the picture... in more then one way in fact! cause hey here i am in this picture hehehehe...

ben proceeded to introduce me to the stranger. from whom he had only gotten a name... and who she worked for.

"traumador this is agent hamiliton. she's from the department of conservation, and she's here to see you" ben said as politely as he could, though it was clear he wanted to leave the presence of our slight icy guest...

for a second i was really excited! man i'd been waiting for the D.O.C. (that's fancy movie type talk for department of conservation! who thought i'd get to cut down a big long title like that just like a movie boy oh boy!) to contact me for a little while here. cutting my enthusiasm short...

"excellent. thank you for your assistance," agent hamiliton said to ben. "you may go now."

wow that was almost rude i thought. she then turned to me. "we can get started now mr. tyrannosaur."

oh man i was primed. get started on my conservation program... not that i knew what that actually meant, but it sounded big and impressive...

"i'll need to see exactly where you've established your new habitat," requested (well almost came across as more of an order come to think of it) agent hamilton.

as i lead the way to the dell i started asking a ton of questions about agent hamilton, the D.O.C., and all sorts of other stuff... come to think of it why i asked her whether santa was ACTUALLY real may have been bad for a first impression...

much to my surprise she simply ignored my questions and was writing things down in her notebook... which as far as i can tell is part of her arm. cause she never puts it down...

due to her lack of talking to me... which was quite disconcerting i assure you people of the innerweb... the walk up to the dell seemed to take forever... it probably didn't help that we slowed down a number of times cause she had to take notes...

at the entrance to the dell we stopped. that surprised me as i was going to take her down to show her my home.

"i'm not properly appraised nor equipped for that in depth an investigation today," she countered my direct invitation to go into the dell.

i was confused...

"mr. tyrannosaur the purpose of my visit today is simply to establish the baseline for your protection program," agent hamilton started noting my confounded look. "if i were to enter into your habitat today without proper knowledge of your behaviour or biologic needs, i could cause critical disruptions to your well being."

"uh but i just offered," i said thinking this was 'proper knowledge' enough.

"now i'm going to need to know a few things," she kept going ignoring me. "what is the approximate extent of your territory in the dell?"

"uh," i hesitated. based on her thus far stern and very serious nature i didn't want to answer the part of the dell that wasn't part of ben's fabled scary maze. so i opted for answering"the usable part."

"am i correct in assuming you establish a territory then?" she seemed to be interrogating me... like on a TV show or something...

"i guess so," i was kinda scared now that i'd answer wrong and fail a test or something.

"are you meeting your basic sustenance and shelter needs in this range?" she eyed me.

"huh?" i've never taken a basic sustaining shelter course before!

"you have enough food and acceptable shelter here," agent hamilton seemed to be getting impatient with me.

"oh. yeah, and if not there's a fish and chips shop just across the road," i replied. realizing i hadn't been specific. "uh that's for either more food or shelter."

"right," she seemed unhappy with that response as she wrote in her notes. "lastly what impacts have humans been having directly on your range?"

now as i've been trying to improve my out look on life and not focus on the negatives lately, people of the web wide world i haven't mentioned one of the problems with my new home...

"people walking through the dell or the rest of the garden have... well been kinda, getting scared when they see me," i answered.

"and?" agent hamilton didn't seem happy about that answer either...

"it's just i don't like making people scream is all," i hesitantly replied. i didn't want to get people in trouble, and i worried maybe my answer might do just that...

"consider it taken care of," hamilton looked up from the last note she scribbled down. "we were going to zone this off anyway. i'll just make sure it happens immediately so this noise pollution doesn't bother you anymore."

what? zone off? am i playing a sport suddenly that i was unaware of?

"right," she interrupted my pondering of her last statement. "that concludes my initial queries for now."

agent hamilton turned and started to walk away from the dell back towards the main gardens...

i was kinda caught off guard by this, and had to run to catch up with her. when i did without looking agent hamilton started talking to me...

"now mr. tyrannosaur for the last month and a half you're existence here in new zealand was, to put it gently nebulous," what does my life have to do with space clouds?

"as of this morning you and your case have been completely registered within the department of conservation, and as of such you are now our responsibility. we are going to be taking every precaution and measure we can to ease your integration into new zealand's biosphere, while at the same time hopefully impacting on your existence as little as possible."

"at the same time it must be said that unlike the month and half leading up to now things are going to be a little different," she almost turned to look at me. "you've been allowed to settle into your new surroundings and hopefully adapt to the native ecosystem without interference. more to the point you haven't had to deal with us at the department much. as of today that changes mr. tyrannosaur."

"from here on in you will be officially monitored and checked up on as per standard procedure for endangered species such as yourself. furthermore i must once again remind you of the official protocols and procedures placed on you by your conservation directives. you must remember to adhere to those directives ALL the time from here on in."

"apart from that this concludes this official first checkup," she reached into her pocket. "here is my contact information should you need to contact me about anything, especially your directives. i will be your contact to the department, and as of such don't feel hesitant to talk to me about any problems you might be experiencing."

though i had a gazillion questions i didn't want to invoke her stern look or make her mad by asking them so with that she promptly made her way out of the park...

this morning i was awoken by the sound of what sounded like drills...

investigating i was shocked to discover someone had posted a number of these signs at the entrances to the dell...

their again official issue from the department of conservation which is kinda cool.

so there we go people of the innerweb. quite a bit has happened from one visitor...

all i'm left wondering is why does the sign say "beware" of tyrannosaur... don't you think that will just make people more scared of me?...

getting around

today i decided to go exploring dunedin some more. i haven't been able to just wander and sight see for fun in a really long time people of the web wide world. man it felt good!

i also stumbled upon a neat new place that definately makes my map of dunedin!

the otago train station. here i am marvelling at the nice little garden they have out front of this amazing building... the train station is almost a hundred years old... which for new zealand is pretty old!

inside it's even more impressive. i feel like i'm on a movie set or something!

out of here runs new zealand rail whose even gone to the detail of having their logo designed into the floor of this amazing building.

poking around i found out that you can book rides on the train... holy smokes!!!

heading outside to catch the train i was disappointed to discover that the train had already departed without me...

oh well just little thing. life in dunedin overall is going awesome right now, and i'm not letting this one thing bring me down...

i'll just have to catch it later on i guess.
